Currently I am in Crete for the CoreGRID Integration Workshop held near the Heraklion city. So, what about Heraklion and Creta in general? mmh.... let me see, you know Naples? Ok... it is quite the same thing! :)
People here speak a strange language... (in Naples nobody is speaking italian, too) something between Spanish, Italian and Turkish... I guess, but practically not comprehensible! :) They also use a different kind of alfabeth that makes the names of things not pronouncable by a human being! :) The city is not very cleany, there is garbage near monuments and the traffic is incredibly chaotic!! We are in a small island and it seems everybody have a car... the quality of the air is not so good, too!
But aside of that, the thing that makes Heraklion, and Crete in general (and also Greek I guess) special is... the women! Before coming here I had a sort of preconditions about Greek girls, but after a couple of days I had to reconsider everything! Very deep black eyes... with few oriental characters... just a look and really can lost your soul! Perfect shape... not too fat... not too skinny... just perfect Consider that for a long period the main God of the island was a female God with exposed breast handling snakes in her hands... for the ones which know the Freud's dreams interpretation... the 'snake' simbol means a lot! :)

Girls here seems also very friendly... and as all the inhabitans of islands they are attracted by foreign visitors! Actually they need foreing genetic patrimony in order to keep the race evolving. If you live in a island soon or later you are goin to have sex with a relative, and according to the Darwin theory this is not good!
I guess girls here use a lot of make-up to obtain this kind of men-capturing effect... and in my opinion that also means that that girl which is looking hard to you is not going to lay in your bed tonight... unfortunately! :( Like in Italy, when a girl uses make-up to attract men always means that she is waiting the man for the first move, and that is not going to work with me! I am the kind of 'man who never ask' (you know the TV advertisement of Denim's after shave? ... exactly! That's me! :) )
Ok, let's close this chapter about girls... my CoreGRID friend Javier Bustos is always making jokes about how I flirt with girls and I don't want to give him the satisfation to think he is right! :) So, let's talk about the Heraklion city... here you are some pictures I took around the city:
And now here it is the Knossos Palace... a marvellous place to visit!
And the Historical Museum in Heraklion...
